26th Feb 08 - I found a baby bird. What do I do?
|
Always call Farplace on 01388 517397 before handling a baby bird. While parent birds will accept a baby back, even if it has been touched by humans, the stress on the baby bird can be detrimental. If a baby bird is naked or with very few feathers, the requirement for immediate action is much higher.
We are always willing to take any injured or orphaned wildlife... or to offer advice over the phone or by email.

11th Dec 07 - Keeping Warm
|
With the winter weather upon us and the dark nights closing in, our baby rabbits have all been taken indoors, but our adult rabbits in our Small Animal Unit needed a little extra help to stay warm.
We have invested in some microwavable heat pads which keep warm throughout the night - guaranteed to keep them cosy. Available online from SPH Supplies -www.sphsupplies.co.uk

6th Aug 06 - Ferals and Strays
|
The last few weeks have seen a big increase in the number of feral cats we have taken in, and we have also been happy to help the Cat Orphanage by taking some of their feral cats too.
All our feral cats are neutered and have their fists vaccinations before being given their freedom. Some are able to be tamed enough to live happily with people. The ones who will never be family pets are released when they know where to come for food.
