18th Feb 05 - Hunting illegal from today! - CPHA

Today, 18 February 2005, the ban on hunting wild animals with dogs comes into force in England and Wales. This long-awaited legislation is the result of many years of campaigning by CPHA. The new law makes it a criminal offence to use dogs to chase foxes, deer, mink and hares. The hunters have lost their argument with the public, with Parliament and in the courts and must finally accept that this just and valid law reflects the will of the majority, who can no longer tolerate cruelty inflicted upon animals in the name of 'sport' or tradition. This is a truly historic day for animal welfare and will radically change the landscape of animal welfare in the UK and worldwide.
